Samkaup is a grocery retailer in Iceland with more than 25% market share and a cooperative owner structure with thousands of members. 

As traditional media channels declined and consumer preferences shifted toward digital trends, Samkaup set out to become a leader in digital grocery retail in Iceland and build stronger connections with their customers.

My role was to merge insights on how other retailers successfully launched digital loyalty programs with an understanding of Iceland’s unique culture. I adapted Lobyco’s white-label app to suit the demographics of Iceland’s sparsely populated areas, aiming to strengthen customer connections through the introduction of a digital loyalty proposition.

The app revolutionized retail in Iceland by offering bonuses on all purchases to members, enhanced with appealing digital deals and engaging features.
